Welcome to MySpiritualAdvisor.com's
Spiritual Pilgrimage page! This page is to connect you
to links to websites and addresses of places that you can go to have a
guided spiritual retreat and/or spend some time in prayer and contemplation.
I hope you will eventually get to go on a guided retreat somewhere.
Unlike popular conceptions, a "retreat" is not a time to go
away to a monastery and do nothing. A retreat is a time away. There are many
scripture references in the Christian New Testament where Jesus Christ went
away to be alone with God. In fact, in Matthew Chapter 4 (along with the
other "Synoptic Gospels": Mark and Luke) we find Jesus going out in the
desert for forty days and nights to be tempted. But along with being
tempted, he went out to be with God. We ought to do the same. The places
which are listed below are places that you should consider.
We welcome your suggestions of sites across the world.
Please send the website address and your review of the venue. Your name will
be listed next to the entry.

Creighton
University On-Line Retreat This was recommended to me by people on
the go. This site gives you a truly on-line retreat. We
recommend it for people who are not sure if they want to go on a
retreat, or what it involves. It is an on-line "how to" of
retreats. We "cotton" to this idea because our "get spiritual"
approach was not received well at first, but now we are giving advice on
five continents. Click on the picture to check it out. |

ABBEY
GETHSEMANI, Bardstown, Kentucky. Known for the spiritual master
Thomas Merton and their sausages and cheeses, like most monasteries,
this is a wonderful place to go on retreat. It is of the Order of
Strict observances of the Benedictines, commonly known as "Cistercians".
You may either go on your own guided retreat or just attend to the rhythm
of the monks there. One warning, if you choose the latter it
means that you will have to arise to be at the first service of
singing the psalms at 3 a.m.. Be sure to click on the "A Monk's Day"
link. It really is wonderfully accurate. This may sound crazy, but
this truly could be one of the most incredible experiences of your
devotional life in Jesus Christ. Click on the picture to
check them out.

 | LAKE
JUNALUSKA, Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. This is in one of the
most pristine areas of North Carolina. It is a wonderful retreat
center, usually for groups. It is in the mountains of North Carolina.
This retreat center is also for recreational purposes. Click

ST.
MEINRAD ABBEY, St. Meinrad, Indiana. This is a wonderful place, in
Indiana. Yes, it is true, there are monks in Southern Indiana! They
always have a list of wonderful retreats. Although I have never been
to this monastery, I have many friends who have. One of them was even
moved to become an oblate (a lay person who keeps the same vows as
much as possible out in the work-a-day world, "oblate" means
"offering". They take vows to present themselves as an "offering"
through Jesus Christ to the Father in Heaven.). Click on the
picture to find the retreat schedule. |
